TorchwoodWriter Jane Espenson has confirmed that John de Lancie has been cast in Torchwood: Miracle Day. John de Lancie has been a fan favorite for many years, having portrayed the mysterious Q in Star Trek: The Next Generation, and Frank Simmons in Stargate SG-1. It is unclear at this point what role de Lancie will be fulfilling.

Production for Torchwood: Miracle Day is still continuing, and has been described as being “mindblowing,” according to Captain Jack Harkness himself, John Barrowman.

Countdown to Doctor Who

Countdown to Doctor WhoIt’s Doctor Who Week of Geek here at Geeks of Doom, where we’re counting down to the launch of Doctor Who Series 6!

Joining us for our preview of Series 6 episode of the TARDISblend is Andy Sorcini aka MrBabyMan, co-host of The Drill Down. We kick off the show speculating on what can be expected in the opening episode of the season, The Impossible Astronaut, directed by Toby Haynes and written by showrunner Steven Moffat.

The first episode is part one of a two-part adventure, which concludes in episode 2 entitled Day of the Moon. The adventure sees Matt Smith‘s Eleventh Doctor facing new villains The Silents, who are tied into the “Silence/Silents Will Fall” meme from last season. It also sees the return of Alex Kingston as River Song, and of course Karen Gillan and Arthur Darvill reprising their companion roles as Amy Pond and Rory Williams respectively.

We also discuss how much attention the new season is getting, and the amazing promotion BBC and BBC America are pushing behind the show. The level of anticipation among fans is at an all-time high. Additionally, we talk of new fans coming to the show, and debate what Classic Doctor Who episodes they should consider checking out.

We run through the episode list for the season, and also briefly touch on Torchwood: Miracle Day. All this and more on the latest TARDISblend!

Doctor WhoFollowing WonderCon 2011, we are launching not one, but TWO episodes of TARDISblend this week! The promotions and publicity for Doctor Who Series 6 is moving full speed ahead, with many revelations, news items, rumors, spoilers, and other stuff abound. Co-host Tom Cheredar was on assignment for Geeks of Doom at WonderCon this year and got to catch up with both Toby Haynes and Neil Gaiman.

For episode 21 of the TARDISblend podcast, we focus on Tom’s interview with living legend Neil Gaiman, as he discusses his writing of the fourth episode of Doctor Who Series 6, enigmatically titled The Doctor’s Wife. While Gaiman remains mostly elusive about specific details about his episode, he does discuss a lot about his experience in working with Steven Moffat. Following the interview, Greg and Tom discuss the rumors and spoilers surrounding The Doctor’s Wife, including the footage shown at WonderCon involving an Ood and… Time Lords?

In addition, we take a look at the developments in the world of Torchwood: Miracle Day, which is scheduled to premiere in July. We examine the teasers and promo material being published and pushed out currently by BBC Worldwide and Starz USA, and discuss how things come to pass to set up the scene for Miracle Day.
