Get Your Buzz On LIVE
Chickenfoot
DVD | Blu-ray
Dc3 Music Group
Released date: 26 April, 2010 (UK); May 4, 2010 (US)
Oh no, not another rock band made up of ex-members of other way more famous bands. Not another group of musicians tarred with the “˜supergroup’ brush. Surely the world doesn’t need another bunch of millionaires telling everyone how “˜blessed’ they now feel. But Chickenfoot is a band with a line up of ex-members of Van Halen and Montrose, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and one of the greatest guitarists of all time. Come on — right now it doesn’t get much more super than that. Chickenfoot released its eponymous debut album last summer to a hugely positive response helping the music and the band to get its beak into most rock award categories at the end of the year. And now, after an extensive tour of America and Europe, lead singer Sammy Hagar, bassist Michael Anthony, drummer Chad Smith, and guitarist Joe Satriani have released a concert DVD — Chickenfoot: Get Your Buzz On LIVE.

| MP3 Deal: Van Halen’s ‘1984’ Are you one of those people that only know Van Halen by their hits “Jump” and “Panama”?
Well then you’re in luck, because the MP3 album deal of the day over at Amazon today is the Van Halen album with said hits, 1984 , for only $2.99. The album, released in the year 1984, was the band’s final effort with charismatic frontman, singer David Lee Roth and also spawned the chart-topping “Hot For Teacher” and its subsequent popular music video (watch the video here below, it’s awesome). Ok, here’s where I do the math for you: 1) You’d only be parting with $3, a steal for such a great rock record; 2) for said three bucks you get 8 songs, so it’s well below the usual 99 cents per song price; and 3) getting the three aforementioned hits together is worth the three bucks right there, so there’s really no better time than now to grab this album while it’s on sale (for a limited time only).

| MP3 Deal: Van Halen’s ‘Van Halen II’ Today’s MP3 album deal of the day over at Amazon is Van Halen‘s Van Halen II for only $2.99 and allow me to stress that if you do not have this album, it is well worth this low price so grab it today while it’s on sale!
Here’s where I justify the cost: MP3 songs are typically 99 cents, therefore for Van Halen II to be worth the price, you need at least 3 songs worth having: “Somebody Get Me A Doctor,” “DOA,” and “Beautiful Girls” — BAM! Yeah, I go right for the heavy stuff, but there’s plenty of lighter tracks on the album like “Dance The Night Away,” “Women In Love,” and the cover song “You’re No Good” (which was a hit for Linda Ronstadt in the 1970s). Still need convincing to shell out $3 of your hard-earned money? Umm, it’s David Lee Roth era VAN HALEN! It’s guitar virtuoso Eddie Van Halen shredding it up in 1979 — plus, check out his 1-minute classical guitar solo “Spanish Fly”!

| 10 Rock Bands That Replaced Their Lead Singer In the history of rock music, band members have come and gone, but nothing is more controversial or dangerous then installing a new lead singer in an established rock outfit. Does it help or hinder to replace your frontman or is it just plain blasphemy to even consider this practice?
This November, prog-rock band Yes will be embarking on a 40th anniversary tour without their lead singer Jon Anderson, who was forced to bow out because of illness. In Anderson’s stead on Yes’s “In the Present” tour will be Benoit David, who sings in a few Yes tribute bands out of Montreal, Canada. Depending on fan reaction, this former tribute singer is either headed for superstardom or is very doomed. Here’s a look at 10 rock bands that have replaced their lead singer and the subsequent outcome of their decisions.
