Better Call Saul Episode 1.4 Hero Jimmy McGill (Bob Odenkirk) AMC

Better Call Saul
Episode 1.4 “Hero”
Directed by Colin Bucksey
Written by Gennifer Hutchison
Starring Bob Odenkirk, Michael McKean, Jonathan Banks, Rhea Seehorn, Michael Mando, Patrick Fabian
AMC
Air Date: Monday, February 23, 2015, 10pm

Every day is a struggle for Jimmy McGill (Bob Odenkirk). His adversities aren’t narrowed down to just one facet of his life, but instead encompass ALL aspects of the lawyer’s being. Along with struggling to build his clientele, pay his bills, and make a name for himself, there’s his constant inner conflict as he continues to teeter between acting in good conscience and relying on his old swindling ways. Back in Better Call Saul Episode 2, we heard Jimmy promise his older brother, Chuck (Michael McKean), that he wasn’t slipping back into his old ways, which, as we see from flashbacks, was being a hustler and a schemer. He’s trying to make his way in the world as a public defender for the Albuquerque, NM, courts, but it pays very little and is getting him nowhere. In Episode 1.4 “Hero,” Jimmy once again walks that fine line between good and bad, but this time around, his moral ambiguity becomes his defining characteristic.

Better Call Saul Episode 103 Jimmy McGill (Bob Odenkirk)

SPOILERS for Better Call Saul Episode 1.3 “Nacho.”

AMC’s Better Call Saul Episode 1.3 “Nacho” aired last night and dealt with Jimmy McGill’s (Bob Odenkirk) reaction to Nacho’s plans to rob the Kettleman’s of the million-plus dollars that they had stolen from the county and were about to be indicted for.

AMC has released the “most talked about scene” from the episode, which involves Jimmy’s search for the Kettleman family. The network has also released a 5-minute behind-the-scenes “Inside Look” at the episode which starts out explaining a bit about the opening flashback sequence from 1992 when Jimmy was in a heap of trouble, and then explores his current-day (2002) situation with Nacho and The Kettlemans.

You can watch all the videos here below.

Better Call Saul Jimmy McGill (Bob Odenkirk) in Episode 102

Better Call Saul
Episode 1.2 “Mijo”
Directed by Michelle MacLaren
Written Peter Gould
Starring Bob Odenkirk, Michael McKean, Jonathan Banks, Rhea Seehorn, Michael Mando, Patrick Fabian
AMC
Air Date: Monday, February 9, 2015, 10pm

So if you were blown away by the first episode of Better Caul Saul, then you won’t believe what’s in store for the second episode, 1.2 “Mijo,” which airs tonight on AMC, after a repeat of the first episode,

We now know that one Jimmy McGill (Bob Odenkirk), better known to the Breaking Bad universe as Saul Goodman, is actually working at the Cinnabon he tersely joked about with Walter White when the two shared what was essentially their final moments together in the penultimate Breaking Bad episode “Granite State.” But that’s all we know about that. We do know that he’s living in some secluded place in the Midwest and alone or so it seems, of course. The beauty of Better Call Saul, even this early on, is how much is unknown and how the wonderful pace takes it’s time to get us and Jimmy there. It’s an express train of exposition and narrative when needed, but chugs along the landscape so one can see clearly out the window.

Better Call Saul

Better Call Saul
Episode 1.1 “Uno”
Directed by Vince Gilligan
Written Vince Gilligan & Peter Gould
Starring Bob Odenkirk, Michael McKean, Jonathan Banks, Rhea Seehorn, Michael Mando, Patrick Fabian
AMC
Air Date: Sunday, February 8, 2015, 10pm

So is there life after Breaking Bad? Not only is there life, but there’s even new trails to blaze. All the hype, all the billboards, Facebook posts, articles, interviews, everything leading up to Sunday night’s premiere of Better Call Saul, AMC’s Breaking Bad prequel spin-off, is 100 percent justified.

With fever pitch buzz and then some, the anticipation for Better Call Saul runs higher than Everest. About a year and a half after we first knew about the show as Breaking Bad was ending its spellbinding run, Better Call Saul finally comes to bat, and from at least what the Pilot and the second episode presents, it’s an out-of-the-park knockout.

Better Call Saul Production Image

Though some delays have pushed Better Call Saul back to a 2015 debut, our interest in the show is still quite high. So every bit of news is something we should savor until we get to see a trailer. We weren’t quite sure what the show would be; all we knew was that Bob Odenkirk would reprise his role as Saul Goodman, with Jonathan Banks returning to reprise Mike Ehrmantraut. The two roles tell us that this would at least be a prequel of sorts. But we also heard that it could be a sequel. Can’t be sure how compelling one would be if audiences were to watch Goodman managing a Cinnabon, but I’m sure Vince Gilligan and Peter Gould can figure it out.

Now it is confirmed that the comedy drama will indeed be a prequel and a sequel, but it will also be a series that takes place during the vents of Breaking Bad. Hit the jump to see Gould’s comments, and the possibility of original Breaking Bad characters returning to the series.
