“ECO-FAIR” AT UNIVERSAL STUDIOS HOLLYWOOD PRESENTS NEW, INNOVATIVE AND FUN INTERACTIVE “GREEN” EXHIBITS AND DEMONSTRATIONS ON SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 10, 2007, 10:00AM – 4:00PM, A FREE FAMILY EVENT AT THE ENTERTAINMENT CAPITAL OF L.A.Universal City, CA- An “Eco-Fair, ” presenting the latest ideas, tips and technologies via interactive displays, high-impact exhibits and remarkable demonstrations will make Universal Studios Hollywood a
must-see “Green” family destination on Saturday, November 10 from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. Admission to the Eco Fair is free (but does not include theme park admission).
The Eco-Fair is suitable for the entire family and will be presented by a “Green Team” of experts from over 20 organizations and the Environmental Media Association.
Activities and displays-many of them with “hands-on” interactive elements-will feature a colorful patchwork of environmentally-friendly demonstrations, exhibits and ideas, including a hands-on demo of the latest in clean diesel technology to simulated tide pools, Segway Personal Transporters, solar-powered blenders and eco-friendly popcorn poppers. Free shade trees will be available (first come, first serve) from the Hollywood Beautification team.
Participating organizations will include Volkswagen of America, Inc., American Lung Association, Arbonne International, Baldwin Hills Conservancy, California State Parks, Environmental Media Association,
Global Green USA, Heal the Bay, International Bird Rescue, Keep California Beautiful, Los Angeles DWP, Los Angeles Conservation Corps, Metro (MTA), Santa Monica Bay Keeper, Southern California Edison, The
Tree People, Windows on Our Waters.
Volkswagen of America’s interactive exhibit includes a “Hands-On Museum on Wheels” showcasing advances in clean diesel technology and alternative fuels. The Metro will test guests’ Green knowledge in the “Go Green, Go Metro” trivia game awarding exciting prizes and persons arriving via Metro can exchange their ticket stub for a free recycled carry-all bag, courtesy of the Coca Cola Company (offer good while supplies last).
The Eco Fair is the culminating event in a week-long program of activities and events planned by Universal Studios Hollywood aimed at reaching both guests and employees with messages supporting collective and individual environmental responsibility.
The program represents Universal Parks & Resorts continuing commitment to “green” education and “green” action and represents the division’s support for NBC Universal’s worldwide effort to program more than 150 hours of environmentally-themed content encompassing all of NBCU’s divisions during the week of Nov. 4 – 10 as part of an ongoing NBCU “Green Is Universal ” initiative.
On Monday, November 5, Universal Studios Hollywood’s Green initiatives will be recognized with a presentation of the Environmental Media Association’s “Green Seal Certificate,” the first to be awarded by the industry group to a theme park. The presentation will be made by Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa and TV’s Alison Sweeney, an Environmental Media Association supporter, star of NBC’s “Days of Our Lives” and host of the network’s popular primetime series, “The Biggest
Loser.”
During the week of November 5, Universal Studios Hollywood will present daily events for employees and guests including giveaways of recycled or other environmentally themed products, offers of free parking to cars bearing a State of Calif9rnia “low emissions” sticker, incentives for employees to car-pool or utilize public transportation.
Universal Studios Hollywood, The Entertainment Capital of L.A., includes a full-day, movie-based theme park and Studio Tour, the CityWalk entertainment, shopping and dining complex, Citywalk Cinemas Stadium 19 with IMAX(R) and the Gibson Amphitheatre concert and special event venue.
