First it was a Japanese comic, then it was multiple Anime films and Anime TV show, and even a few video games. Now, Variety is reporting that Ghost in the Shell has at long last been picked up by DreamWorks pictures per the special interest of a one Steven Spielberg.
Spielberg says that it’s “…one of his favorite stories…” and that the “…genre that has arrived…” Many others believe that Ghost to be perfect for the soon-to-explode 3D live-action film style, which is the plan for the film adaptation.
On board so far is Avi Arad, who’s the literal King of comic book movie producing, with the Spider-Man and X-Men trilogies, a pair of Fantastic Four films, and the upcoming Iron Man and The Incredible Hulk movies all with his name on them. He’ll be producing with his brother Ari Arad and Steven Paul, with Jamie Moss (Street Kings) writing the script.
More to come as it’s known!
This could be good.
