One of the more popular franchises attached to DC comics — outside of the comics themselves of course — is Smallville, and the reimagining of the Superman mythos. It’s teenage heartache drama at its corniest, but it’s got 7 seasons under its belt and they’re still going.
Lex Luthor is leaving, taking actor Michael Rosenbaum with him, but apparently Justin Hartley will see his role of Oliver Queen/Green Arrow upgraded to a series regular. And a female named Tess, and the introduction of Davis Bloome/Doomsday will definitely keep the season interesting.
However, news out of San Diego Comic Con this weekend has fans of the Legion of Super-Heroes excited. Geoff Johns, who is currently working on Legion of Three Worlds as a Final Crisis tie-in, wrote Rogues’ Revenge, and was just announced to be teaming back up with Ethan Van Scriver for The Flash: Rebirth, is also bringing the Legion to Smallville.
Apparently, being close friends with Jeph Loeb, who worked on Smallville, gave Johns an in with the four showrunners who have taken up the job after Miles Millar and Alfred Gough left after season 7. They had apparently been thinking about approaching Johns, and Johns had an idea for a Legion story, and so it has apparently come together and he will apparently be breaking ice on the script very soon.
Johns is a busy man, and is easily the man behind everything good in the DCU at the moment. We’re really looking forward to his work on Final Crisis tie-ins, especially Legion of Three Worlds, which is touted to be bringing in more Legion members than ever before, and his work on The Flash: Rebirth is likely to be massive. So adding another thing to his plate probably won’t phase him too much, right?
Check out a video interview with Johns below, in care of Comic Book Resources.

Excellent news. I just read the Green Lantern No Fear and loved it. Looking forward to getting more from Geoff Johns.
