Black Magic Sanction, the latest book by Kim Harrison, arrives in stores tomorrow and to get you ready for the release, we have an exclusive video of the author talking about her new book.
Watch the video here below!
Black Magic Sanction is the 8th book in the author’s Rachel Morgan (also referred to as The Hollows) urban fantasy series about a bounty hunter-witch who battles supernatural beings of both human and non-human origin in a modern-day alternate history setting.
In this latest book, Rachel goes beyond the usual vampire and demon hunt as this time she must go up against her own kind, who seek to imprisonment the witch or worse! To win her freedom, she must enlist the help of her enemies, but can she trust them?
I’ve been researching some upcoming fantasy novels and had only a slight knowledge of the Rachel Morgan books, but when I mentioned her books to some of my friends, it turns out they all highly recommended the series. After watching the video and seeing how much the author loves her work and especially her characters, you can’t help but want to see what this series is all about. It seems like just about every supernatural being from out of a D&D handbook makes an appearance and I’m intrigued to see how such characters are integrated into a modern-day setting.
If you’re a fan of this series, be on the lookout here for more Kim Harrison items in the near future!
Synopsis
Black Magic Sanction (On Sale February 23) is the most complex and emotionally charged adventure yet in author Kim Harrison’s New York Times bestselling series featuring bounty hunter-witch Rachel Morgan.
Rachel has fought and hunted vampires, werewolves, banshees, demons, and other supernatural dangers as both witch and bounty hunter””and lived to tell the tale. But she’s never faced off against her own kind . . . until now. Denounced and shunned for dealing with demons and black magic, her best hope is life imprisonment””at worst, a forced lobotomy and genetic slavery. Only her enemies are strong enough to help her win her freedom, but trust comes hard when it hinges on the unscrupulous tycoon Trent Kalamack, the demon Algaliarept, and an ex-boyfriend turned thief.
It takes a witch to catch a witch, but survival bears a heavy price.
A spellbinding story set once again Cleveland’s vampire, demon, and other supernatural beings-infested Hollows, Black Magic Sanction has the intrepid Rachel trapped in a life-or-death battle against her own kind in a sensational urban fantasy that shows why Kim Harrison deservedly stands in the superstar ranks alongside Charlaine Harris, Jim Butcher, and Laurell K. Hamilton.
There utter crap, Buffy by way of twilight with a little coven waved over it. Nacy Collins stuff is many times better, give Sun Glasses After Dark a shot.

These are actually great. You can’t compare them to Buffy — it’s a completely different medium. They’re witty, smart, funny, and they aren’t overly dramatic, unlike Twilight. They are in a completely different class from Twilight, which I think is ridiculously poorly written and relies entirely on soap opera drama. And personally I like this series WAY better than the Southern Vampire Mystery Series. I quit reading that after about 3 books because I didn’t like very many of the characters. I find the “family” that Kim Harrison has created in this little church to be absolutely delightful. It’s just great.
These books are awesome and are the top notch of anything Urban Fantasy related. I’m sick and tired of people comparing this genre to anything Twilight related. It is nothing alike and has no similarities. You can tell the first comment on this is someone who hasn’t read the books. Pretty sad.
Anyway! I can’t wait to get my copy and THIS was awesome :D Hurray!
I love Kim Harrison as an author. You open one of her books & get sucked right into her world.
Her characters & their enviroment are very developed & constantly evolving. Kim’s attention to detail is incredible.
I do recommend that you start at the beginning of the series if at all possible. Currently, there are some ebook suppliers that have her first book in this series “Dead Witch Walking” for free!
I hope you all give Kim a chance. I am an avid reader of science fiction/fantasy/romance/mystery & I must say that Kim is my favorite author.
Thanks Kim for all your hard work & I’ll be going to get my copy of Black Magic Sanction later today!
I have to say Thank You to Kim Harrison for the Hollows series,We love the characters. Hoping that there will be many books to come. I have to say that “Kim” is one of the most giving to her readers,Thank You. If you want something fun and intriging to read, visit the hollows. Although it is set in Cincinati, not Clevland. This is a No Fluff Zone, if your looking for a Fluffy story, this ain’t it.
actually I did, they sucked eggs. Like I said nancy collins writes far better stuff. Every steaming pile-o crap has legions on die hard fans. If you really want a cool author look into guy n smith.

The Rachel Morgan series is one of the best.I love the characters, and Rachels story is new and fresh each book.
I read a lot of the vamp series, but who can keep up now ?
True Blood,Blood Ties,yadda yadda.
I started reading it in lieu of Anita Blake at first, but I’ve grown to love it .Al is my favorite character.I salivate waiting for each new book.
The Anita Blake series used to be just as good, but everyone I know stopped reading it because the story line is lame, its basically erotic porn now,and each book spans a day and a half.
FAIL is all I can say.The first 7 or so books were so awesome too,so its sad its degenerated into lame, endless porn.
In one book, all she kept saying to all the men was “I want this in me”,whilst clutching their manhood in her hand .This kind of lame ,from the orginal Anita Blake is uncontionable.
Ugh…
If Rachel Morgan ever says “I want you in me” to anything except a donut or slice of pizza, I’ll commit seppuku.
Another interesting series is the one by PN Elrod. She wrote them years ago ,and they are a very different style, but its about a gumshoe detective in old Chicago(Al Capone days),that unwittingly becomes a vampire during a case .
Its pretty cool too.Check it out .
Cheers

I also started reading this in lew of anita blake who i loved for the first few books and agree that it has degenerated into flat out porn. I must agree also that this series here is great in every way. I enjoy and look forward to every book. I read every little scrap i can get before it comes out and rush to go buy it when it hits the shelves. Racheal Morgan keeps it interesting and exciting. The story keeps going and doesn’t jump from here to there. Please keep writing this way. it is so hard now adays to find an author who consistantly writes a good series. thank you.
