After a one-year engagement, writer Neil Gaiman and musician Amanda Palmer got married last night, then broke the news today via their respective Twitter accounts.
Gaiman proposed to Palmer on New Year’s Day 2010, and for Gaiman’s 50th birthday this past November, the couple had a mock wedding ceremony in New Orleans [Read: Still Life With Wedding Party]. Now the couple made it official in a ceremony held in writer Ayelet Waldman‘s parlor with Palmer wearing the same wedding dress she used as a street performer for over 5 years. The bride tweeted that the dress “was shredded…but it still worked.”
Weee!! Congratulations!
Quick update [1/4/11 at 1:30am]: Neil posted another photo from the wedding over at this Facebook page. With the pic, he wrote “We’ve been engaged for exactly a year, and we love each other more than ever. So last night, on more or less the spur of the moment, I married her, and she married me. Legally, this time.” So sweet! I totally love how they look like this blissfully happy young couple. They are awesome!!!
