A Very Harold & Kumar 3D Christmas

First they went to White Castle, then they escaped from Guantanamo Bay; now, everyone’s favorite stoners, Harold and Kumar, are about to have a very 3D Christmas in their third adventure, A Very Harold & Kumar 3D Christmas.

The first photo was released from the film showing Harold (John Cho) and Kumar (Kal Penn) along with Neil Patrick Harris (playing himself) in a very festive scene (see photo above). Now, the first theatrical trailer is online and you can watch it here below.

Now, if you’re looking at that 3D in the title and rolling your eyes at the fact that every movie these days has to be in 3D, worry not. Believe me, I hate 3D… unless it’s the old-school Friday The 13th 3-style in-your-face 3D, and that’s exactly how it’s done in this new Harold & Kumar sequel. Judging from the trailer, the new movie — like its two predecessors — is going to be a blast, but the over-the-top 3D filming makes you laugh even more. And, they even reference the 3D in the movie. Gotta love it.

The movie was first announced in July 2008, though the Christmas aspect didn’t come to the surface until a few month before shooting began in 2010. So, it’s been in the works for quite a while now (since the last film, Harold and Kumar Escape From Guantanamo Bay, star Kal Penn took at job as Associate Director of the White House Office of Public Engagement for President Barack Obama).

The new movie finds Harold and Kumar spendmig their time with new friends, as they’ve grown apart over the years. The duo are reunited when a package is mistakenly delivered to Kumar on Christmas Eve containing Harold’s father-in-law’s prized Christmas tree and Kumar tries to get it to the right place — but instead burns down the tree. Instead of fessing up, Harold tries to cover up what happened, leading him on a new adventure with his old friend through the streets of New York City. Somehow, Neil Patrick Harris is involved and Harold and Kumar nearly blow up Christmas Eve.

Good stuff.

A Very Harold & Kumar 3D Christmas comes to theaters on November 4, 2011.

  1. I liked the last two Harold and Kumar movies, but this one looks terrible.
It has the 3D gimmick throwing in a 3DTV plug while there at it.
Then there is all the fantasy aspects like Santa Clause, Heaven, high-babies crawling on ceilings all seems to much. Maybe it is all from a trippy high ala The Hangover gimmick, and they got some bad weed.
Damnit it I still kinda wanna see.
