– Bret McKenzie of Flight of the Conchords, who played the elf Figwit (nicknamed by the fans) in the original trilogy, returned to Rivendell for The Hobbit, this time as the elf named Lindir. Right before filming a scene against Hugo Weaving’s Elrond, director Peter Jackson decided that McKenzie should deliver his lines all in Elvish about how the kitchen was under stress from the dwarves’ visit. The Elvish dialogue proved to be quite difficult for the comedic actor, who just barely nailed the necessary take.
