Geek Peek: First Look At Josh Brolin As Cable In ‘Deadpool 2’

Cable and Deadpool

With Deadpool 2 now in production, photos of new characters are starting to emerge via Ryan Reynolds‘ Twitter account.

Just a week ago we got our first look at Zazie Beetz as the luck manipulating mutant Domino. Now the actor has revealed the first look at Josh Brolin as Cable. And judging by the photos alone, Deadpool 2 looks like it will be one hell of a fun sequel. Check out the tweets below.

To say that Cable has one of the most complicated backstories would be a vast understatement. He is the son of Scott Summers, aka Cyclops, and Madeline Pryor, a clone of Jean Grey, who was Mr. Sinister’s creation when the real Jean Grey perished after the events of the “Dark Phoenix’ saga. When Cable becomes infected with an incurable disease, a mysterious woman from the future takes him to the future where he is cured of his infection but still has the techo-organic metal bonded to him. He would eventually become the time-traveling leader of the Mutant Liberation Front and travels to the past to prevent Apocalypse from ruling the world.

Considering how convoluted the whole X-Men film franchise timeline is, Cable is the perfect character for a film like Deadpool 2.

But here is what is interesting about Cable. In the comics he is also the leader of X-Force, a group of black-ops mutants who go on rogue missions to take a more proactive stance against threats to mutantkind. Some of the most notable members of X-Force are Deadpool, Cable, Wolverine, Psylocke, Archangel, Nightcrawler, and Domino. As you may have noticed, all these characters have appeared in one or all the X-Men films.

As for the look of Cable and Domino, the former looks like the actual character from the comic books. The cybernetic arm and techno matter on the side of his neck are all nice touches. The latter is a very welcomed deviation from the source material. It’s basically a combination of beauty and ferocity.

Directed by David Letich, Deadpool 2 hits theaters on June 1, 2018.

  1. Most of the fans hate the way Domino looks. It’s not very welcome at all.
