The Geeks of Doom are counting down to June 30, the day ‘Superman Returns’ flies into theaters. Every week till then, we’ll explore another aspect of the Man of Steel’s universe.
Meet the new Jimmy Olsen: Sam Huntington!
In the Superman universe, Jimmy Olsen is the young photographer who works at The Daily Planet along with Superman’s alter ego Clark Kent and ace reporter Lois Lane. In the original Superman movies, the bowtie-wearing novice was played by actor Marc McClure. For the upcoming Superman Returns, the part goes to Sam Huntington.
While Huntington isn’t a household name, the 24-year-old actor with the boyish looks isn’t exactly a stranger to showbiz. The New Hampshire native began acting in his mother’s children’s theater at age 9 and moved to New York at 13 to attend The Professional Children’s School, where he befriended child star Macaulay Culkin.
In 1997, Huntington landed his first major movie role as Tim Allen‘s long-lost loincloth-wearing son Mimi-Siku in Disney’s Jungle 2 Jungle, where he shared an on-screen kiss with Leelee Sobieski.
Two years later, he starred with Terminator 2‘s Edward Furlong in Detroit Rock City, a comedy about four teenage KISS fanatics in 1977 trying to make their way to the band’s concert while battling car thieves, guidos, and MATMOK (Mothers Against The Music Of Kiss)! Huntington plays Peter Criss-worshipping drummer Jam, who loses his virginity to a girl named Beth (played by Melanie Lynskey) in a confessional booth while his mom is outside the church leading the MATMOK protest.
Since then, the actor has gone on to appear in the ensemble spoof Not Another Teen Movie (as Ox, a mock of the Emilio Estevez character from The Breakfast Club) and the teen movie Sleepover, and has guest-starred as “Luke” on two episodes of TV’s teen sleuth show Veronica Mars.
After Superman Returns, the actor hits the road again in Fanboys, about four Midwestern guys who drive across country to honor a friend’s dying wish to watch Star Wars: Episode I: The Phantom Menace at George Lucas‘s Skywalker Ranch before the movie’s worldwide release.
In the long awaited release Duperman, Jimmy finally get to anally reem Lois.

Nice profile, but, as with everything else connected with this movie, I’m copping a wait-and-see attitude. I really want this to be a great movie and it’s already starting to look embarassing. Maybe they can’t keep the franchise viable without Chris Reeve after all.
