| Bytes: Cars, X-Men, Superman- CARS sped to first place at the box office over the weekend, earning $62.8 million. X-MEN: THE LAST STAND was third with $15.6 million. The superhero sequel is the first film of the year to reach the $200-million mark. THE OMEN was fourth with $15.5 million.

- Carrie Fisher is heading to the stage in an autobiographical one-woman show called WISHFUL DRINKING. The show, in which she’ll discuss Star Wars, begins in October in Los Angeles.
- The Muppets will be chatting with human celebs on their upcoming TBS talk show, LATE NIGHT BUFFET.
- A computer-animated comedy called HAPPILY N’EVER AFTER, a Cinderella satire, is in the works. It will feature the voices of Sarah Michelle Gellar, Freddie Prinze Junior, Sigourney Weaver, George Carlin, and Andy Dick.
- The comic book TALENT, about a college professor who survives a plane crash, is heading to the big screen.
