- PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: DEAD MAN’S CHEST set a box office record over the weekend. The sequel earned $135.6 million in its first three days of release, for the best debut of all time. The previous recordholder was Spider-Man, which earned $114.8 million in 2002.

- THE AMAZING SCREW-ON HEAD half-hour animated show based on the comic book by Mike Mignola will debut on the Sci Fi Channel’s broadband station Sci Fi Pulse on July 13, after which viewers will be asked to fill out an online survey to help the network determine whether to greenlight the project into a series. - Cast members from the original, British version of THE OFFICE will appear on the American version this season. Ricky Gervais, however, won’t be on the NBC show.
