| Bytes: No Hobbit for Peter, Ever |

- New Line head Robert Shaye said that as long as he’s in charge, the studio will not work with Peter Jackson on a proposed movie based on J.R.R. Tolkien‘s THE HOBBIT or any other film. Shaye’s statement comes months after Jackson stated that he and his partner Fran Walsh would not will not be involved in THE HOBBIT or a second proposed LORD OF THE RINGS prequel since New Line had decided to look for another director. Jackson has since stated that he won’t discuss THE HOBBIT until a lawsuit against New Line over RINGS accounting practices is settled. [Link]
- Yvonne De Carlo, the beautiful star who achieved her greatest popularity as Lily Munster on TV’s slapstick comedy THE MUNSTERS died of natural causes on Monday. She was 84. [Link]
- B-movie favorite Bruce Campbell (EVIL DEAD) has signed on to be the new spokesperson for Old Spice and is already appearing in a humorous TV ad for the company.
- Leonard Nimoy will host the History Channel special STAR TREK: BEYOND THE FINAL FRONTIER, which chronicles the Trekkie phenomenon. It airs February 19.
