- SCI FI Channel has green-lighted production for 22 one-hour episodes of FLASH GORDON, a new series based on the comic-strip story created in 1934. The series is scheduled to debut on SCI FI in July. [Link]
- Johnny Depp will produce and possibly star in a film adaptation about the mysterious death of former KGB agent Alexander Litvinenko. Warner Bros. has obtained for Depp’s production company the rights to the unpublished book on the subject, Sasha’s Story: The Life and Death of a Russian Spy, which will be written by New York Times London bureau chief Alan Cowell and published later this year. - SCI FI Channel has unveiled a new slate of programs in development, which includes shows from executive producers George Clooney, Darren Star, and Mark Burnett. [Link]
- NBC Universal plans to launch Chiller, a new digital cable network devoted to horror-themed programming, on March 1. [Link]
