Sanaa Hamri will direct the sequel to The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants.
Music video director Sanaa Hamri will helm the sequel to 2005’s The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants the movie adaptation of the young adult novel by Ann Brashares, according to Variety.
In the original Warner Brothers movie, in an effort to stay connected during their first summer apart, four girlfriends pass to each other a pair of pants that somehow perfectly fits each of their different body shapes.
The four friends were played by America Ferrera (Ugly Betty), Amber Tamblyn, Alexis Bledel (Gilmore Girls), and Blake Lively, who are all in talks to reprise their roles if their respective work scheduling conflicts can be resolved.
The sequel, co-written by Pants scribe Elizabeth Chandler, is based on Brashares‘s fourth novel in the series, Forever in Blue, but will also include parts from the second and third books. The girlfriends, now 19-year-old college students, will again share a pair of second-hand jeans while spending a summer apart.
While the original film was rated PG, the sequel — with storylines more suited to young adults — will most likely be PG-13. Production is expected to begin June 3, starting in Greece, then moving to New York and Connecticut.
I can’t WAIT to see this movie! :) It sounds so good. I will be 12 by the time it comes out, so almost 13.
