The actor will play several roles in the Robert Zemeckis performance-capture adaptation of the classic Dickens tale.
Jim Carrey will star in the Robert Zemeckis-directed adaptation of the classic Charles Dickens tale A Christmas Carol, according to THR.
Carrey will play the part of Scrooge as well as those of the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present, and Future. Rumor has it that Bob Hoskins might join the cast as Mr. Fezziwig.
For A Christmas Carol, Zemeckis will blend live action and CGI with performance-capture technology, the technique he popularized in The Polar Express and employed in Monster House and in the upcoming release Beowulf.
Zemeckis, who wrote the screenplay for Carrey, will produce the movie along with his partners at ImageMovers Digital, a company created earlier this year through a deal with the Walt Disney Studios to create films using performance-capture technology.
A Christmas Carol will be made for a 3D stereoscopic release. No official release date has been set at this time.
