As part of the promotion for the upcoming DVD release of Hot Fuzz — available on July 31, 2007 — the official movie Web site has a fun online game that puts you in the shoes of Sergeant Angel as he shoots his way through the town of Sandford!
To play the Sandford Stand-Off Game, head on over to www.hotfuzz.com/game. There you’ll have to battle through three different levels by using your mouse to shoot armed and dangerous senior citizens, where you must reach a minimum amount of points to pass to the next round. Don’t shoot the swan or your good friend Danny though, or you’ll lose the game!
If you can make it through all three rounds (you’ll need a total of 6,000 or more points) you’ll be rewarded with one of three exclusive clips. Two feature behind-the-scenes footage, and the other includes Angel (Simon Pegg) dealing with an undecipherable Sandford local. The only catch with the game is that you may have to play through more than three times to see all three clips, as the site has a tendency to repeat clips you’ve already seen.
The game is quite addictive and fun, and with the 6,000 points being pretty easy to rack up, you’ll soon find yourself trying to best your previous score. If you have not seen the movie, you may want to hold off on playing until doing so, as the villains you fight and the clips you win are riddled with spoilers.
