AOL Moviefone has posted the teaser trailer for New Line’s big-screen adaptation of Sex and the City, based on the popular HBO drama starring Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Cattrall, Kristin Davis, and Cynthia Nixon.
Written and directed by Michael Patrick King, the film sees the return of all four leading actresses, as well as Chris Noth as Mr. Big, four years after the TV show’s series finale. New to the cast is Oscar-winner Jennifer Hudson (Dreamgirls) who plays Parker’s assistant.
Watch the trailer here after the jump, or check out at AOL in HD.
Sex and the City hits theaters May 30, 2008.
Normally, a movie like this would not even be on my radar. But I have a confession to make: this fangirl least likely to watch Sex and the City has seen every episode of the show’s six seasons. I even read the book by Candace Bushnell.
Ack, I know, I know. But, hey, I couldn’t help it, it’s good television about four single ladies in NYC, my hometown, and their struggles with relationships. While I can’t relate at all to any of their respective lifestyles, there’s plenty about the show I can enjoy, especially its humor.
There’s not much to see in the teaser trailer and so far it looks like the movie is going feel like just one long episode of the TV show, which is fine, I’m sure I’ll enjoy the movie anyhow. Though as of now, I don’t feel the need to run out to see it when it hits theaters. Perhaps that will change once I see the full trailer.
i guess this means sopranos fans should wait four years after they care to see a sopranos movie…
and really, its kind of weird seeing HBO shows hit the big screen…. when most tv shows go big screen the audience looks forward to the lifting of the limitations of a tv show…but when the series originates on HBO its just an obvious attempt to grab some cash.
