The official Web site for The Dark Knight has been updated to include a video page.

As of now, the video page contains a “Why So Serious?” poster, which you can see here at right (click for large view). There’s also links to videos that apparently don’t exist, because clicking on the links yields error messages. If you click on the links to the Windows Media files, the URL name has “trailer 2” in it (the QuickTime links have “TRL2” in their file names). So, perhaps, a second trailer is indeed what we’ll get at these links eventually. [UPDATE 1/5/08: The links actually work now and they are for the theatrical trailer released last month.]

But you never know with the viral marketing campaign for this Christopher Nolan sequel to Batman Begins, which sees the return of Christian Bale behind the cowl, with Health Ledger as The Joker.

AOL Moviefone has the exclusive teaser trailer for The Duchess, the Paramount Vantage period drama based on Amanda Foreman‘s bestselling novel Georgiana, Duchess of Devonshire.

The film stars Keira Knightley as the scandalous 18th-century title character, who falls for a young politician (Dominic Cooper) while in an an unhappy marriage to the Duke of Devonshire (Ralph Fiennes).

The Duchess, directed by Saul Dibb, is scheduled for theatrical release in the Fall of 2008.

What we’ve got here is a tough little nut to crack, at least from my viewpoint. Behind the curtain time; sometimes it’s hard to review things that come across my proverbial desk. Some books you read, and it’s easy to say “This is good” or “This is bad.” Not so much with this one. There’s some serious subject matter going on here and a very unique art style, which brings up some good points and some bad points. I’ll get to that in a minute.

First a bit of recap: Scorn comes to us from Septagon Studios, and tells the tale of Michael, a guy who’s had a rough time of it his entire life. His mother is killed at a young age, he becomes a bit of an outcast until he meets his best friend. Unfortunately, his friend is killed in issue 1 by a wanna-be gangster by the name of Torres, which sends Michael into a spiral of violence and murder. He has given himself over to revenge and his quest continues in this issue as Michael takes a step closer to Torres while finding out some info about his almost girlfriend. There’s violence, there’s sex, and there’s murder.

The domination of the DVD allows cancelled television series to find new life on silvery discs. DVDs also escalated the shameless pandering to fans with feature-length renditions of their favorite cancelled faire. Sure, the fan bases of said franchises weren’t strong enough to keep the show on the air, but that doesn’t mean their money is no good. This is America for crying out loud!

Because this is America, we, the fans, are able to have countless, straight-to-DVD sequels to Dukes of Hazard and American Pie. We can watch entire seasons of Night Rider and MacGyver even though the first episodes of those series may predate our birth. And, when our beloved Futurama or Gumbel2Gumbel gets cancelled, we can whine and scream and purchase DVDs until our voices are heard.

And our voices heard about it, they have!

Confusing syntax aside, the good folks at Fox gave Matt Groening and company the opportunity to release a Futurama movie and shamelessly pander to dozens of fans. And pander they did! Anyone with access to two volumes of their roommate’s Futurama DVDs will find Bender’s Big Score incredibly rewarding. Everyone else should read the rest of this review and then forget they ever heard of it.
