Cinematical has premiered the teaser poster for City of Ember, the upcoming film adaptation of the Jeanne Duprau children’s book.
The film, directed by Gil Kenan (Monster House) from a script by the very talented Caroline Thompson (Edward Scissorhands), is produced by Tom Hanks for 20th Century Fox and Walden Media.
It’s got a great cast — Bill Murray, Toby Jones, Saoirse Ronan, and Tim Robbins, and a sneak preview that AICN wrote about gives me high hopes for this film. The first trailer for City of Ember will play in theaters before screenings of Prince Caspian this weekend.
City of Ember hits theaters October 10, 2008.
Synopsis
For generations, the people of the City of Ember have flourished in an amazing world of glittering lights – underground. But Ember’s once powerful generator is failing … and the great lamps that illuminate the city are starting to flicker. Now, two teenagers in a race against time, must search Ember for clues that will unlock the ancient mystery of the city’s existence, and help the citizens escape before the lights go out forever.
The trailer looks really good. I’m excited to see what the rest of the movie will have in store. I really excited to see how Gil Kenan’s first live action film will turn out, I have complete faith that it will be nothing less than amazing. Plus I think the cast will be good. I think Bill Murray will make a outstanding villain playing Mayor Cole.
