I had never heard of the American Girl dolls, so the movie based on them — Kit Kittredge: An American Girl — was not really on my radar.
Then when a rep (who’s not in movie promo) came into town recently to take me out to lunch, she brought along her 10-year-old daughter so they could stop at the American Girl store (which I didn’t know existed). That’s when I remembered hearing something about an American Girl movie starring Abigail Breslin.
Unfortunately, I didn’t know much more than that, so I thought I’d keep my eye out on the film from now on. Turns out, a trailer is already out, which you can watch here below.
Looks like movie tickets are available now for a special 10-day exclusive theatrical run of Kit Kittredge: An American Girl in select cities — Los Angeles, New York, Chicago, Dallas, and Atlanta — which begins on June 20, 2008. The purchase of each premium ticket ($20) comes with a limited edition t-shirt; additionally, those who purchase a ticket with an American Express Card will also receive a full-color collector’s edition program.
Kit Kittredge: An American Girl gets a wide release in theaters starting July 2, 2008.
Synopsis

We’re excited about seeing the movie. We love the American Girl dolls and we really love Abigail Breslin, too. She very talented at such a young age.
Thank you for posting the trailer. We hadn’t seen it yet.
