Well, after many stories about Spider-Man‘s future — Will it keep going? Will the cast and crew be back? Will they film 4 and 5 back-to-back? — the sure-to-be-endless rumors have begun!
Some people think that most of the original main cast won’t be back and that it’s time for a change after the letdown that was the third film… this I agree with and it looks as if it might happen.
Latino Review has found out that among the top contenders for the role of Peter Parker in Spider-Man 4 is Patrick Fugit of Almost Famous… well, fame.
LR also found out that another name in possible contention is Michael Angarano (Sky High, The Forbidden Kingdom), but he’s on a less-likely list of younger prospects.
Keep in mind that no talks have even begun yet; these are just “desired” actors and I won’t be shocked if we hear a lot more names thrown around as time goes on.
I’m thinking Fugit is a great choice here, as he definitely fits the description and is a talented actor; I’m not so sure about Angarano, yet. Oh, and one other thing that LR pointed out that I thought was great — these two actors played the same character at different ages in Almost Famous.
My biggest question will be what storyline they plan to follow for Spider-Man 4; the best that they could have run with (and the one I as a minimal comic fan am most familiar with) is the Venom storyline, maybe even getting into Carnage and really spoiling us. But instead, they went with Venom already and they f’d it up hard and now it will be very difficult to recover the franchise. The work is absolutely cut out!
I like this first rumor a lot and I’m sure there’s many more to come. Keep on reading!
He was a really good in Almost Famous. But Tobey is not coming back?

I disagree; I like Spiderman 3 as much as I liked the first two. None of them are motion picture classic but they are enjoyable action movies. I think they should stick to the original cast, we have bonded with them in these roles and to see someone else fill in would cause people to reject or lose interest in these characters. It is just my opinion and I know how much Hollywood cares about that. LOL
