Everyone’s favorite superhero show, creatively named Heroes, is set to gain a new cult fan favorite, with the ever popular Bruce Boxleitner set to join the cast for season three, debuting in September.
The scoop came from TV Guide‘s Michael Ausiello, who says that Boxleitner has scored the role “that was originally going to be modeled after Sen. John McCain. The character has since been reconceived, and now all I know for sure is that he’ll be sharing scenes with a female series regular.”
Boxleitner is a favorite amongst the geek community and holds a special place, as he has starred in two cult classics. First of all he played the title role in Tron, the 1982 sci-fi classic where “˜a hacker is literally abducted into the world of a computer and forced to participate in gladiatorial games where his only chance of escape is with the help of a heroic security program.’
Following up with a penchant for science fiction, Boxleitner was cast as Captain John Sheridan in the sci-fi series Babylon 5.
A veteran actor of almost a hundred roles, Boxleitner is sure to add to an already growing cast of individuals. Ausiello promises us that NBC isn’t trying to force-feed us another batch of newbies, and that the primary focus will remain “on the core characters from the pilot.”
