Very recently, while reporting on a new movie called War of Gods, I spoke about how much of a sucker I am for anything to do with Greek mythology. So when there’s a movie coming that dances with this era, my ears perk.
Well, apparently War of Gods was put on the fast track to production, and one of the reasons for this may just be that a friendly, good ol’ fashioned little Greek mythology movie battle may be on the horizon! See, Louis Leterrier, who just directed The Incredible Hulk, has signed on to direct a little remake of a movie called Clash of the Titans, which some of you may or may not have heard of; it’s being written by Lawrence Kasdan (Empire Strikes Back, Return of the Jedi, Raiders of the Lost Ark, and many other classics).
Apparently these two will battle it out to see who gets to distribution first and then who might make more!
With War of Gods, we’ll see a massive battle between mortal man and the gods and titans. In Clash of the Titans we’ll see the son of Zeus fight through many challenges — such as battling Medusa — to save a princess.
I can think of a few memorable movie battles: Armageddon vs Deep Impact (both awful, but Armageddon more entertaining); A Bug’s Life vs Antz (both good, A Bug’s Life wins for me, but I’m sure many agree, many disagree), and now this!
So which do you want to see more?
