With June nearly behind us, that means that The Dark Knight‘s time is finally upon us. And as a result, the news and reviews and videos are ramping up to get everyone at peak excitement for the movie’s release.
Already reviews are coming out for the movie, from those lucky enough to have scored a preview screening. AICN and CBR have the early reviews up. There is no way I’m going to read them, but they are linked there if you want them.
But one good thing is the reception that the movie, and in particular Heath Ledger‘s performance, is getting. Already rumors are recirculating concerning Ledger’s possible nomination for Best Supporting Actor at the Oscars. We knew that his cast held him in high regard, and were riveted by his performance, but it looks as if the public are thinking the same thing.
Speaking of Ledger, and on a much more somber note, /Film last week made note that Warner Bros. has indeed included a dedication to the two members of the cast and crew that passed away during filming. It will read:
“In memory of our friends Heath Ledger & Conway Wickliffe”
Heath Ledger is the obvious one, but Conway Wickliffe was the special-effects technician who was killed last September in a stunt-car accident on the set.
And, not surprisingly, more and more videos are beginning to circulate. IESB has a video showcasing 8 minutes of behind-the-scenes footage, which I will also not be watching. I’m sure it’s good, so head along if your game. Also, Comcast has posted some exclusive clips and will continue to post more as the release date draws nearer.
Also, Monday will see the screening of the latest two Gotham Tonight videos, one focusing on Jim Gordon, and the other looking at whether Batman’s influence is affecting the criminal element of Gotham. The latter will be hosted by Mike Engel, played by Anthony Michael Hall.
So with the countdown beginning, make sure you stay tuned to Geeks of Doom for all the latest news, and be ready for our Week of Geek, celebrating Batman The Dark Knight.
