Extra talked to Eddie Murphy and he dropped some bombs: “I have close to fifty movies and it’s like, why am I in the movies? I’ve done that part now. I’ll go back to the stage and do stand-up.”
Wait, so, just like that? Eddie Murphy is going to stop making movies after Meet Dave comes out this summer and go back to doing stand-up?
While I don’t believe a word of this yet, I think it would be a smart move of him to follow through with this. I don’t think he should stop doing movies forever, but it’s been really painful to watch movie after movie of his come out, each worse than the last. Maybe a return to his roots for a few years would remind him where it all came together and how great it all used to be and then I would love to see his valiant return, doing the type of harsh, brilliant-funny movies he did so well.
Also in the interview, in regards to Beverly Hills Cop 4, Murphy apparently said he “didn’t want to do it” because the “movie wasn’t ready to be done.”
So, along with retiring, he’s not doing the Beverly Hills Cop 4 movie we were all told he was doing? That’s odd, because in a story published by MTV after Extra broke the Murphy retirement story, Murphy said that the “time was right” for BHC4 and that it is “gonna be something special.”
All I know is that it’s gonna be something that’s special. I’m not doing just, hey give me some big check and I go off [does the Foley laugh] and shoot the gun and jump over cars,” Murphy told MTV News. “Like, that’s some bullsh-t. If I do it, it’s gonna be some sh-t that’s right!”
That “big pay check” is probably a reference to the one he got to do Beverly Hills Cop 3.
They said this is how much we’re going to pay you. I said, ‘let’s go shoot it! I don’t care if the script ain’t right.
I have to assume that his attitude around the time of BHC3 may have been where the decline started. Any time someone waved a bunch of money at him, he signed on the dotted line and made movies that just kept getting worse.
This is all very corroded sounding and I have trouble taking it as 100 percent true, but if it is, this could all prove to be very good for his career. In a way, it could also be very symbolic, as I’ve always thought maybe the real Eddie Murphy was somewhere inside of him somewhere, and if that’s true, it’s very similar to the little Eddie Murphy’s falling out of big Eddie Murphy in Meet Dave, and why that could be his last movie!
You heard it here first, folks; “Dave” is an alien who stole Eddie Murphy from us and he’s finally escaped!
Something like that, anyway.
eddie murphy is a tranny crazed psycho and possibly a skrull infiltrator and shouldn’t be trusted.
