We really haven’t been given much in the last few months from the Harry Potter camp, only a handful of uninteresting photos. But this week, Empire, USA Today, and MovieFone have all posted exclusive new images from the upcoming Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.
Check out all the images here below.
First up is Empire, which is featuring a bloodied Harry Potter with cracked eyeglasses on the cover of their recent issue, which also contains an interview with the film’s director David Yates and title star Daniel Radcliffe. Yates revealed to Empire during their set visit that the sixth movie will show a big attack only talked about in the J.K. Rowling best-selling book.
“We’re opening with a big attack,” director David Yates told Empire when we visited the set. “It’s talked about in the book, but we’re going to show it. We’ll bring a major London landmark crashing down. It should be quite spectacular”.
There will also be an attack on the Weasley home by the Death Eaters, and we’ll see a new creature creation — the inferi, the undead creatures that are guarding an item that Harry Potter needs to defeat Voldermort.
The printed issue of Empire contains more interviews with the cast, details from the set visit about the upcoming movie, and more.
USA Today has premiered seven images from the film (though one of them was previously released in March; see “˜Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince’ Image).
Their article gives us some insight as to the themes of Half-Blood Prince and even bring up the romance between Harry and Ginny Weasley (Bonnie Wright) and if they “share a magical snog.”
“They’re about to kiss,” director David Yates says. “Then the bloody Death Eaters turn up and cause all sorts of anarchy.”
Yates, who also directed the previous movie, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, chose to let the young actors do more improvising in the sixth film, and that one such scene is of Harry and Ginny “that is fraught with romantic tension.”
Fans of the series know that the young sister of Harry’s best pal Ron has been in love with Harry since the very beginning, but Harry always thought of her in a sisterly way. Now that Ginny is older and starting to date, Harry begins to see her in a new light, but how would feel about that if he found out?
“Harry has these feelings for Ginny which he’s unable to express or fulfill because Ron is very protective of her,” says director David Yates.
Lastly, MovieFone has two new images: One of Harry with Prof. McGonagall (Maggie Smith) watching from afar; the other is of Luna Lovegood (Evanna Lynch) wearing her signature psychedelic spectrespecs.
Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince hits theaters November 21, 2008.

This film has the potential to be the best yet. My only hope is the person who went to work with a meat cleaver whilst editing and writing the script for order of the pheonix has not been employed on this film, PLEASE PLEASE DON’T CHOP IT TO PEACES there was so much important plot info missing from the order of the pheonix that as a massive fan of the books and films, although i couldn’t stop myself from liking the film i was gutted that so much was missed out.
