Trolls play a major role in Guiillermo del Toro’s upcoming Hellboy II: The Golden Army. The film’s viral site, www.hetfet.org, is even dedicated to the ethical treatment of fairies, elves, and trolls.
Apparently, there’s quite a lot of troll abuse happening in the Hellboy Universe, according to HETFET spokesperson Elizabeth Moora.
“The fear and loathing that trolls face should not be dismissed or wiped under the rug. Unless we educate the public about these badly misunderstood creatures, the cycle of violence will continue against them, with or without problems in the economy”¦” said Moora. “That cycle must end! And here at HETFET we give people the tools and the knowledge to overcome their fears and suspicions.”
According to Moora’s latest report, the HETFET hotline is being inundated with calls confirming the existence of Hellboy, “red-skinned mystery creature” previous referred to as “Devil Man.” Moora also said that Hellboy has been seen in conjunction with a large number of troll sightings around the globe, though his intention towards the trolls is unknown at this time.
In Hellboy II there’s a Troll Market that only magical beings have access to, which has been hidden from human eyes for centuries. Below is concept art of the door that leads to the Troll Market, along with masks from the Troll Market; also below is an image of the Troll Market Barber.

Troll Market Door

Description by artist Francisco Ruiz Velasco: Only magical beings have access to the Troll Market, which has been hidden from human eyes for centuries. This is the door that leads to the market. It’s like a huge safe mechanism that only few know how to open. Originally, this door was conceived to be inside an underwater chamber that led to the Golden Army chamber. Later on, Del Toro decided to create a variation of the door for the Troll Market.
