Back in April, we got our first glimpse of Land of the Lost, Universal’s big-screen remake of the 1970s television from from Sid and Marty Krofft (see First Look: The Sleestaks from “˜Land of the Lost’).
I’m willing to bet that that first look got all our us who remember Land of the Lost and the other Kroftt series really nostalgic for those old shows. And someone else thought so too, because MySpace today launched the official Krofft channel.
Sid and Marty Krofft, creators of classic children’s shows like H.R. Pufnstuf, Sigmund and the Sea Monsters, and The Bugaloos, will populate the site with full-length licensed content, “Krofft Kwikies” (short-form episodes of the original series) along with and highlight clips of favorite Krofft characters and moments.
MySpace will be the exclusive partner for all things Krofft. A few “Krofft Kwikies” for H.R. Pufnstuf, Electra Woman & Dyna Girl, and Land of the Lost are already up, which you can also watch it here below.
The World of Sid and Marty Krofft channel on MySpaceTV will serve as the ultimate destination for those who already know and love the popular shows, as well an introduction to those who are new to the worlds of “H.R. Pufnstuf”, “The Bugaloos,” “Sigmund and the Sea Monsters,” “Lidsville,” and others. The dedicated channel will initially include 3-5 minute condensed episodes from seven of the Krofft series’, highlights from the various series characters and moments, up-to-date news briefs on what’s happening in the world of Sid and Marty Krofft, and of course, the iconic theme music that identifies each series. Both the theme music and short form videos can be embedded into fans’ MySpace profiles. In time, the profile will also feature exclusive interviews with the directors, never-before-seen and behind-the-scenes footage, and hilarious outtakes.
Well, I’m excited!! I loved these old shows and miss them dearly. Hurry up and get (re)acquainted with all the Krofft series before they’re all remade into big-screen comedies with Will Ferrell.
