An all-new X-Files movie will hit theaters July 25, 2008, and two days prior, DC/Wildstorm will release the first issue of a related comic book, The X-Files #0.

This comic book series will see Agents Mulder and Scully in a previously untold story written by Frank Spotnitz, film’s cowriter and producer of the upcoming X-Files: I Want To Believe feature film.

The events that take place in the comic book occur during season 5 of The X-Files television show when with Special Agent Dana Scully has cancer and her partner, Fox Mulder is on the run while looking into Scully’s illness.

According to EW, The X-Files #0 will act as springboard into a few original comics miniseries set throughout seasons 2 and 5 of the show, and that these tales will feature a familiar evil force.

The full-color 40-page X-Files #0 will also have art and a variant cover by Brian Denham (there will also be photo cover) and will sell for $2.99.
