Recently, we covered the story that Russell Crowe would be playing both the Sheriff of Nottingham and Robin Hood in Ridley Scott‘s Nottingham.

The news was said to be straight from the mouth of Scott, so it had to be true.

In the comments section on the story we were lead to a Russell Crowe fan-site that has a “quote” from Crowe saying that he’s not doing both roles.

On the site, called Murph’s Place, Crowe says:

Naturally, because this site is unfamiliar, I have no idea how legit this is. If picking between a report via MTV with a quote from Ridley Scott and this, I’m probably leaning towards MTV. On the other hand, the site doesn’t seem fake or misleading in any other areas — they have constant Russell Crowe updates and news — so could it be that Crowe himself actually contacts them from time-to-time and fills them in, or is this just a quote from nowhere that’s covered in BS?

In a world where even the most-confirmed of facts can change, you just never know; thus this becomes worth a mention. Huge grain of salt here, but again, we’ll only know when we actually see this thing play out.
