Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment has unveiled their Blu-ray titles for 2009, which will include new Blu-ray + DVD Combo Packs, as well as new Blu-ray releases from the Disney/Pixar/Miramax/Touchtone/ABC back catalogs.
Disney’s Combo Pack — which is the Blu-ray and the DVD in one single package — will be available for Disney-branded theatrical and Platinum titles releasing on Blu-ray between February and October of 2009.
According to Disney’s press release, the inclusion of the feature film on standard definition DVD will allow consumers without Blu-ray players to “future proof” their collections. This means that even if you’re not ready to purchase a Blu-ray player now, you won’t have to re-buy all your movies on Blu-ray in the future. Also, if you already have a Blu-ray player, you can use the standard DVD for use in your computer or portable DVD player.
