It became very obvious this weekend: leaked copies of movies help you to insane opening weekends! OK, maybe not every time — don’t try it.
In any case, X-Men Origins: Wolverine jumped out to a massive opening weekend take of $85 Million, even after that massive leak a month ago — a very impressive feat. As you’ll see with most movies that do this well, a sequel was immediately discussed. Now it’s been confirmed that Hugh Jackman is in fact developing a new movie for the immensely-popular character.
As most rumors had covered, it appears that all signs point toward the sequel following Wolverine’s adventure with samurai in Japan. I’m not personally familiar with the Japan storyline, but from what I gather, Wolverine went there during WWII and studied the ways of the samurai as well as methods for calming his intense anger issues.
No word yet on supporting cast and crew, nor is there any word on release bubbles. Considering the new one is still freshly released, it should be a while before this one comes around. Being a big fan of the Japanese and samurai cultures, this sounds like it could be a very cool way to go with the sequel.

Despite the first film being a little bit of fluff, I think it is a good idea to do a sequel about his stay in Japan. Perhaps with this scenerio they will take the source material for what it is.

I just dont see how they can make the Wolvie franchise anything more than mediocre. I’d rather see a fat steven segal as wolverine that Jackass Jackoff Jackman.

I don’t mind jackman as wolverine but the best actors in the world can’t save a crap script. And if they do the same as what they did with the first wolverine movie it’s going to suck big time.

I wonder how they’ll work Japan in? Since he was there in the comics before WW2, after SilverFox was raped and murdered by Sabertooth. Since they completely screwed his origin up in the movie, I guess he can go there in the 90’s and learn from pokemon masters or Power Rangers. I wonder if Joel Schumacher is available to direct? Hmmm I bet he is.

Nothing short of Wolverine vs. Omega Red will salvage the sure-fire turd of a sequel movie that will inevitably follow this one.
If the next movie does indeed take place in Japan, Fox will just dial up the ninjas from The Hand working for scraps since Elektra tanked at the box-office.

This sound COOL one thing I really ask is PLEASE don’t crap out in the ending like in the first one, The Bullet thing really pissed me off, other than that I didn’t mind that the film wasn’t like the comics. I felt the bullet idea just was WAY too off the mark on who Logan is and how he got that way. SO PLEASE don’t do any thing like that in the next film and most of us fans, even hard core ones like me, will be OK with it. remember we collect these films as well as comics! :)
OK with that out… I LOVE the Wolverine japan stories, they are fantastic in the comics, as long as you have Logan ‘s fighting scenes and swordsmanship up to par it should be ok how ever you play it. Remeber, Logan’s THAE BEST fighter in MARVEL and it should be OK.
