When the Robert Rodriguez and Quentin Tarantino co-directed Grindhouse was released, it was something of an event. Two movies released together and jam-packed with mock trailers, all the for the price of your normal movie ticket. Of the many faux trailers that were created, two of them have always been rumored to be getting feature-length treatments: Rodriguez’s Machete, and Eli Roth’s Thanksgiving.
At the moment, it appears that both of these movies are on their way to us: Roth has plans for filming the minuscule $5 Million budget ultra-horror movie in tandem with his new large budget science fiction movie, while Rodriguez and his co-director Ethan Maniquis now have quite the cast in place for Machete.
Wikipedia has the list of actors, as well as who they will be playing. We know that’s not always the best source, but the descriptions sound legit. I can’t tell where they got their information from, but for now, I’ll include the details and take it in stride. So far, the movie has Danny Trejo, obviously, in the lead role as Machete, a former Mexican officer who is hired to assassinate a dirty politician, but is double-crossed and sets off for his revenge. New to join the cast is the odd-yet-impressive cast of Robert De Niro as Senator McLaughlin, the corrupt senator that Machete is hired to take care of; Jessica Alba as Sartana, an agent that’s looking for Machete, Steven Seagal as a drug lord named Torrez, Jeff Fahey as Benz, the man who gave the assassination job; Michelle Rodriguez as Luz, a taco making friend; Lindsay Lohan as April, a friend of Machete’s who’s good with guns; Don Johnson as a cop named Lt. Stillman; and Cheech Marin as a holyman.
No word yet on when the movie will be released, but it is already in production.

The casting of LiLo saddens me immensely. How can she even be taken serious in a movie so filled with awesome? Her past roles have included:
A Volkswagen’s love interest
A bitchy granddaughter
And a dead stripper… I think.
The rest of the cast seems solid though. Really excited to see what Seagal, De Niro, and Marin bring to the table.
