Would You Be Interested In Seeing ‘Iron Man’ & ‘Iron Man 2’ In 3-D?

The Movie God   |  @   |

Iron ManAICN has discovered that one single minute of the superhero mega-sequel Iron Man 2 have been converted to this new digital 3-D format that’s storming the movie-making front. This one minute of 3-D footage is now being studied and pondered by all of the big wigs behind the project, who are also gauging what exactly it would cost to transfer the entire film into 3-D, and whether or not this is a step they want to take.

If this all goes smoothly and things look good, there’s a chance that on top of this all, the studios may even go all-out and convert the original Iron Man to digital 3-D as well, and then re-release it in theaters to build up excitement before Iron Man 2 comes out on May 7, 2010.

The movies are directed by Jon Favreau and stars Robert Downey Jr. and Gwyneth Paltrow. Joining the team for the sequel is Mickey Rourke, Don Cheadle, Sam Rockwell, and Scarlett Johansson.

Personally, this may not be the best idea. I have not seen this top-notch 3-D technology yet, so my opinion is not yet set in stone, but the fact that every single movie being made these days is not only a sequel, remake, revision, or adaptation, but also all in 3-D is fairly annoying. For Iron Man, you would think it was perfect for a cool 3-D look, but the movie (original anyway) is already good enough, and doesn’t need something that is still widely considered a novelty to enhance it. This isn’t to say I’d go and ignore the movie if it was in 3-D, but it’s not something that seems necessary either.

Does the possibility of a 3-D Iron Man 2 excite you even more than you were, or does this not matter either way?

  1. I get enough 3-D in real life.

  2. I think it would be a HUGE mistake to put it in 3D. I think 3D effects in movies are cheesy and unnecessary. I would definitely be less likely to see it if they did it this way.

  3. I don’t need to see Iron Man 2 in 3D. Worse still, I think it would push back the launch date if they decide to convert or re-film portions for 3D. No thanks.
