Michael Bay Produced ‘Ouija’ Movie Gets A Pair Of Writers

Ouija

As we all know, many movies based on toys and board games have been made recently, and are still on the way, including Transformers, G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra, Clue, Monopoly, Stretch Armstrong, Battleship, and Candy Land. On the horror front, Michael Bay‘s Platinum Dunes is developing a feature film based on the popular ritualistic board game, Ouija, and they now have their writing team. It’s being reported that Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz have been hired to pen a script for the movie, in which Brad Fuller, Andrew Form, and Hasbro’s Brian Goldner and Bennett Schneir will join Bay as producers.

Kitsis and Horowitz recently penned the upcoming science fiction-heavy sequel, Tron Legacy, but are perhaps better praised as two members of the fantastic writing team on ABC’s beloved Lost. Both gentlemen have written and acted as executive producers on many episodes. And it is because of this Lost affiliation that more curiosities may now be piqued than were first expected.

As is the case with most of these products who are getting movie treatments, Ouija boards don’t have much of a story behind them. This means that the product or the title will be at the center of the movie, but they will craft an original story around it — in this case it will likely be some sort of ghost story.

Platinum Dunes has been busy remaking all of the classic horror titles like Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Friday the 13th, and A Nightmare on Elm St.. These are all adult-aimed projects, so with Ouija, one thing that will be worth watching is how they approach the movie and who they aim to market it toward.

  1. All there remakes have sucked, the test showing for the nightmare redux was godawful( I got to see it at a test screening,it was even worse than the friday the 13th crapfest!)So with them behind this project, it’s a doomed ship.
