If you are offended by reading or hearing the words ‘Shit’ ‘Fuck,’ our bad. But I have an infinite amount respect for Reggie Watts’s talented dismantling of the rap industry and absolutely zero regret sharing it here.
The aural content of Reggie’s song is a pitch-perfect satire of the rap industry at large. Each vowel is a ninja sword slicing its way across the chest of every self-important, womanizing gangsta rapper who are currently influencing our children with songs of similar content—entirely devoid of irony.
The video component is a masterpiece of visual composition. There are so many levels at work both with its stylistic integrity and technical prowess that I would suggest it be included in future classes on the subject of proper music video creation
I don’t love this song because he says the word ‘Shit’ a lot (even though it’s hilarious, in-context). I love it because as a stand-alone piece of multimedia it accomplishes exactly what it set out to do, satire an industry that has far too much ‘power’ over the shaping of youth culture and that often takes itself way to seriously.

I’m clearly not the target audience for this since I’m in my 40’s. It’s clear that the song is a satire and perhaps reflects accurately upon the rap industry, which really doesn’t need to be satired. It has done an amazing job of that by itself over the last 15 years.
I’m just wondering what this song does that Randy Newman’s Short People didn’t do 30 years ago? (Other than have a slick music video attached?)

I wasn’t at all offended, but I found it only mildly amusing. In fact the entertainment ended just as the guy put ‘fuck’ on the wall.
“I’m on a Boat” pwns the shit out of this video, and for you to say that this video is “so much better”… saddens me :(

@Clarence I guess I looked at it the way Dave3 did. Also… the Jello part… had me in tears…as did the “Car Polish”

It’s good to see that Gozer the Gozerian finally got a job as a backup dancer. I always wondered what happened to her after the Ghostbusters crossed the streams.

@Tom Cheredar: Well just because it didn’t appeal to me doesn’t make it any less ‘quality’ for someone else. I my self like a lot of things that even my friends raise a brow at.
Thanks for sharing it all the same :D

Brilliant. Absolutely brilliant. A wonderful put-down of rap that manages to be quite funny without glorifying rap.
