Marvel Entertainment has created an entertainment division specifically for the small screen named Marvel Television, and award-winning comic and TV writer Jeph Loeb will head the division.
Loeb, a onetime co-executive producer of NBC’s Heroes, will supervise the transition from comics to the TV screen for Marvel’s popular characters and stories. Loeb will be involved with developing and distributing live-action, animation, and direct-to-DVD series
Loeb will collaborate on the television projects with Dan Buckly, Marvel’s publisher and president of print, animation, and digital division.
I have some mixed emotions about this story. Loeb was involved with Smallville and Heroes, but both of those shows had noticeable declines in quality in later seasons. To be fair, though, Loeb has currently become known for being a “big action” writer. Hopefully, his style and enthusiasm will translate into interesting, long-running Marvel TV properties.
