Last year, we reported that author Neil Gaiman would be writing an episode of Doctor Who for its sixth season. Few details about the episode have been revealed since then, but now we at least know the title.
Gaiman’s story is called The Doctor’s Wife and it will be the fourth episode in Series 6 (Season 6 for those of us in the U.S.).
The trailer for the upcoming season was released yesterday and upon viewing, Gaiman wrote on his Facebook page: “There are eight shots from my episode in here (and some dialogue!).”
Also, on his blog, Gaiman wrote about seeing his finished episode.
And I just saw the finished version of my Doctor Who episode. I was happy — there were moments and even scenes I missed, but that’s always the way. Mostly I was just impressed by the performances, direction and music. And effects. They spent money on this one and it shows.
With a title like The Doctor’s Wife you’d think we’d finally be getting some details about the Doctor’s romantic life, which might include a marriage to Dr. River Song. But, you never know, it could mean something else entirely.
The new series will premiere on April 23, 2011 on BBC America. As previously noted the series begins with a two-part story that finds the eleventh Doctor (Matt Smith) and his companions Amy Pond (Karen Gillan) and Rory (Arthur Darvill) on an adventure in the United States in a Utah desert and leads back in time to 1969 at the White House in Washington, DC. See the teaser video for the U.S. episodes here below.
