Despite a series of sequels that can best be described as trash, Hellraiser is still very much a beloved horror franchise, in desperate need of a new take and a new breath of fresh air.
However, that bit of fresh air just got a little less interesting.
Shock Til You Drop recently spoke to the pair of Patrick Lussier and Todd Farmer (My Bloody Valentine, Drive Angry), who revealed that they had left their long-discussed remake, which has been in the works for just around a year now.
Personally, as a fan of both of the films from these two, I had really high hopes for this project. I think Lussier and Farmer are really interesting genre filmmakers, and that’s exactly what a film like this truly needs. They do a fine job at really getting a fun and entertaining film out of a relatively silly narrative, and I think that’s just what this project needed. Here’s to hoping that the film can move on and find an equally great team to take over.
