So it’s finally here! The new Ultimate version of Spider-Man will debut in his own series on Wednesday, September 14, 2011 in Ultimate Spider-Man #1.
We got a sneak peek at the new Spider-Man Miles Morales last month in Ultimate Comics Fallout #4. When the news hit that the new Spidey would be a half-black, half-Hispanic character, the internet was a buzzing. Now, the character has his first solo story in Ultimate Spider-Man #1, which launches a new ongoing comic book series at Marvel Comics.
Regardless of race, it’s a little hard to get over the fact that Peter Parker will no longer be Spider-Man. Ultimately for me it’s all about the writing by Brian Michael Bendis. If the story is good, and it makes sense how Miles got his powers and suit and everything, then I’ll buy into it. If it doesn’t then I won’t. (I didn’t like that there were no web shooters in the Spider-Man movies). I think how Spider-Man gets his powers is the part that will have to be done just right if this is going to work. I will say this though, his new costume is pretty awesome!
