Wow. Apparently September/October has become the time for video game companies to release any game connected with a superhero franchise. Last week saw the release of X-Men: Destiny, Batman: Arkham City will be out in a couple of weeks, and this week sees the release of Spider-Man: Edge of Time. This new game from Activision/Beenox, the makers of Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions, allows players to play as the Amazing Spider-Man in the present day, as well as his 2099 counterpart in an adventure to stop the death of the web-slinger.
Spider-Man: Edge of Time features a story not quite written by Spidey 2099 creator Peter David, but he did have input on the story, which features the two main characters fighting in different time periods, with the actions of each character affecting the other in surprising ways. Players will be able to face down many popular villains, as well as all new creations like Black Cat 2099. The game also features a very accomplished voice cast, including Val Kilmer as the main villain Walker Sloan, Laura Vandervoort as Mary Jane, and Katee Sackoff as Black Cat. It also brings back Josh Keaton (The Spectacular Spider-Man) as present day Spidey, and Christopher Daniel Barnes (the ’90s Spider-Man animated series) as Spidey 2099.
We’ve got a couple of videos to show you today. One is the combat trailer for the game; the second is the launch trailer for the game. So, check out these shots and then let us know if you’re planning on picking this game up, and if you have already, what you think of it.
