Wrong Turn 4: Bloody Beginnings, the latest installment in the backwoods cannibal horror franchise that began with the 2003 original and spawned two direct-to-video sequels (including the superior first sequel Dead End, directed by Joe Lynch), is coming to DVD and Blu-ray later this month. The movie is a prequel to the first three films which explores the gruesome origins of the flesh-eating mutant hillbilly family who has terrorized unsuspecting travelers with more hormones than brain cells. You can check out the trailer, Blu-ray cover art, and a list of special features here below, along with details on a related cookbook (yes, a cookbook!).
This time the pork chops on the menu are a group of friends on a snowboarding excursion who are forced by a raging snow storm to take shelter in an abandoned mental hospital where our lovable intestine-sucking psycho geeks are just waiting to make them into human head cheese. Declan O’Brien, the director of the previous sequel Left for Dead as well as Sharktopus, wrote and directed Bloody Beginnings.
But before Wrong Turn 4 hits the store shelves you can some delicious mutant cuisine courtesy of the Wrong Turn 4: Bloody Beginnings Cannibal Cookbook. Available as a Facebook application, the cookbook offers up such enticing recipes for all those budding flesh-munchers out there such as Bloody Handprint (which like a bloody mary if you substitute blood for tomato juice and use eyeballs as a garnish), Saw Tooth Bone-In Ribs, Coconut Cannibal Cookies, and much more. Double click the top right hand corner of each page to go forward or back. Being a gourmand I’m tempted to try some of these recipes, but without the main ingredients they won’t taste the same. Maybe an unsuspecting relative can help me with the preparation.
You can check out more on the movie at the Wrong Turn franchise’s Facebook page. Wrong Turn 4: Bloody Beginnings will be available on unrated DVD and Blu-ray starting October 25, 2011.
