Dark Horse Comics announced on this week that they will be teaming with video game giants BioWare to publish a brand new comic book series based off the hugely popular Dragon Age franchise.
The most interesting thing about the new 6-issue limited series is that it will be written by the lead writer of the Dragon Age video games, David Gaider. So, instead of feeling just like an ordinary adaptation or another author’s interpretation of the story, the comic will take Dragon Age fans further into the mythos of the RPG series.
The story in the limited series will follow three of the most important heroes from the franchise, Alistair, Isabella, and Varric. The comic promises to be an epic story within the Dragon Age universe, and with art duties from Chad Hardin, I have no doubt that this will be the case.
A lot of people I know in the comic book world are also huge fans of the RPG series, so the team up of Dark Horse and BioWare makes nothing but sense. I’ve been interested in the franchise for a while now, so I’ll be picking up this series to see what all of the fuss is about, and I suggest you do the same. There’s a lot of potential here for a lot of mythological fun.
The Dragon Age mini-series will begin on February 22, 2012 and will be available exclusively to the digital format for $.99 each.
