One of the many things that director Quentin Tarantino is known for is putting together great casts for his movies; even for some of the smaller characters he has, such as Mike Myers in Inglourious Basterds for example. It sounded strange when first reported, but worked out great in the final product.
Perhaps not quite as strange as that particular casting, it’s being reported that Tarantino has chosen Sacha Baron Cohen for a small role in his upcoming movie, Django Unchained.
Baron Cohen is currently in negotiations for the role, which would see him playing an “off-kilter gambler” who at one point purchases the wife of Django (Jamie Foxx), who’s teamed up with a German bounty hunter (Christoph Waltz) to find his long-lost love.
The actor joins a cast that includes Foxx, Waltz, Leonardo DiCaprio, Samuel L. Jackson, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Kurt Russell, Don Johnson, RZA, and Anthony LaPaglia.
Sacha Baron Cohen is best known as the man of many faces and voices from Da Ali G Show, which resulted into two films based on his characters: Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan and Brüno. He’s also appeared in Madagascar, Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby, Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, and upcoming titles Hugo and The Dictator.
