Fans of grunge should be delighted to learn that during its 20th anniversary year the excellent Temple Of The Dog album is available on MP3 as part of Amazon’s monthly $5 MP3 Album Deals.
Following the death of Mother Love Bone singer Andrew Wood, Soundgarden frontman Chris Cornell wanted to put together a tribute to his late friend. The roots of grunge behemoth Pearl Jam are here with Jeff Ament and Stone Gossard finally joining up with future Pearl Jam bandmates Eddie Veddar, Mike McCready and Soundgarden drummer Matt Cameron (who is now Pearl Jam’s drummer). The result was this: the eponymous album Temple Of The Dog.
The album obviously owes much to the artists and bands that came together to make it. Whether you’re a huge fan of early 90s rock or just intrigued as to what Temple Of The Dog sounds like, I think it’s well worth your $5. Standout tracks are “Call Me A Dog,” “Say Hello 2 Heaven,” “Pushin’ Forward Back,” and the Cornell/Veddar duet “Hunger Strike.”
This is part of Amazon’s November $5 MP3 deals and runs out November 30, 2011 11:59pm PST. If you’d like to purchase a physical copy of the album, the CD is only $9.99.

An absolute classic of the Seattle grunge area and an example of why the 1990s were so much better than the 21st century. I just saw Chris Cornell performing a solo acoustic show last night, and let me tell you, he has still got it!!!! It was sheer awesomeness, I can’t wait for the new Soundgarden album!!!!
You may have noticed that we're now AD FREE! Please support Geeks of Doom by using the Amazon Affiliate link above. All of our proceeds from the program go toward maintaining this site.
