Did you know they were making a movie based on the video game Just Cause? If not, surprise!
Producers Adrian Askarieh and Eric Eisner have reached out to Bryan Edward Hill to rewrite the script for the movie, which is currently titled Just Cause: Scorpion Rising. Michael Ross (Touristas) wrote the first draft of the script, which is being developed Askarieh and Eisner’s Prime Universe Productions and Double E Pictures before being shopped out to potential studios.
As you may have figured out the movie will be an origins story, telling of how the game’s protagonist, Rico Rodriguez (often times called Scorpio or Scorpion), came to be a member of the mysterious branch of the CIA known as The Agency and his early days as a special agent.
According to the game’s mythology, Rodriguez went through CIA training but was quickly recruited by Tom Sheldon, who became a friend and commanding officer in the oft-used team of Rodriguez, Maria Kane, and himself.
Bryan Edward Hill is a comic book creator and writer, co-creating Netherworld for Top Cow, co-creating 7 Days From Hell for Image Comics, and writing the Broken Trinity mini-series Broken Trinity: Pandora’s Box, which follows Top Cow’s three heavy hitters, Witchblade, The Darkness, and Angelus.
