$5 MP3 Album Deal: Rush ‘2112’
space
Stoogeypedia   |

Rush 2112

2112, the breakthrough album by the classic Canadian progressive rock trio Rush, is now available on MP3 format from Amazon this month for only $5. The CD is also currently on sale for only $4.99.

This is the album that put Rush on the map and suddenly found them in the heavyweight division of rock music. The title track, clocking in at over 20 minutes, stretches out the spacey futuristic Twilight Zone/Ayn Rand influences that started to become musically apparent on two previous Rush releases (Fly by Night and Caress of Steel) and presents them like a musical tale, keeping and refining the Rush sound into a listenable and challengeable experience. The cannabis fragrancy of “Passage to Bangkok,” the rare tune solely penned by guitarist Alex Lifeson “Lessons,” and the only song that drummer/main lyricist Neil Peart ever played in original Rush drummer John Rutsey style 4/4 “Tears” are not to be ignored, as is the high-pitched, bottom heavy vocal, bass attack of lead singer/bassist Geddy Lee. The influences of 2112 are still prevalent on subsequent Rush albums to this very day. Upon listening, it’s easy to see why.

Browse the main sale page to see all 100 albums on sale for only $5 each in MP3 format through the end of September 2012.

Comic Review: Adam Wreck

Adam Wreck coverAdam Wreck
Written by Michael S. Bracco

Alterna Comics
Release Date: October 1, 2009
Cover Price: $9.99

Poor Adam Wreck. He is trapped on his parents’ spaceship on a so-called adventure in the cold, black, absolute nothingness of intergalactic space. His parents are the first Earthlings to invent a spacecraft capable of intergalactic travel. They’re on a mission to seek out new life and…yeah, yeah, we know the premise. Unfortunately for the space-faring nuclear family, their search has discovered no sign of alien life for two years — two long, dull, agonizing years. Just when young Adam is about to snap, his parents happen upon a Kalosian space pirate ship and are swept up into swashbuckling adventure filled with giant tentacle monsters, squishy planets, fishy spaceships, and invaluable treasure.

In Adam Wreck, Adam has no superpowers or special talents unless you consider amazingly fortunate luck to be a power “” and I do. He just stumbles his way through life-threatening situations and somehow lives to tell the tale. Just when Adam’s reservoir of good luck seems to run dry, he meets a treasure-hunting alien named Voric. The opportunistic ship captain, who was obviously inspired by Captain Jack Sparrow, has the means to help Adam rescue his parents from becoming a human-grade sashimi snack. Adam, in-turn, has information that Captain Voric desperately desires. An alliance, perhaps?

The Avengers

When the world was about to be overrun by Loki and the Chautari, Nick Fury rallied the world’s greatest heroes to stop them. At least the heroes that Marvel Studios still owns.

The day after The Avengers Blu-ray, DVD, and Blu-ray Combo Pack hit store shelves, the Screen Junkies team decides to poke fun at why there were so few heroes seen in The Avengers. Check out the brutally honest but also very hilarious video below.

I won’t bother detailing the video, because talking about it won’t do it any justice. Check it out. Credit to SceenJunkies for the funny video.

‘Stoker’ Trailer: Fear, Sexuality, and Tension

Stoker Header

Oldboy director Park Chan-wook is taking his work to the States. Chan-wook introduced himself to global moviegoers with films like Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance, Oldboy, and Sympathy for Lady Vengeance. Now he is gearing up for his first English-language directed film, Stoker. The first trailer for Stoker has finally arrived online.

Check out the first trailer here below.

The cold chill that Nicole Kidman gives off creates the kind of tension that is rarely seen in movies. Kidman plays Evelyn, a widower to the Stoker family, who lacks the capacity to warm up to the Stoker family patriarchal daughter, India (Mia Wasikowska). Things only get worse when Uncle Charlie (Matthew Goode) pays the two a visit. And by worse I mean creepy worse.
